‘Tis the season: Photos from the set of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’
Here, LIFE documented the use of a revolutionary new snow-making process employed during the making of It’s a Wonderful Life — a process that, for the first time, allowed filmmakers to produce and control remarkably realistic onscreen snowfall, drifts, flurries and landscapes. The look and feel of holiday movies would, quite simply, never be the same.

When I was a little girl I thought this was the just most romantic little moment in the world, and if someone were to come up to me in person and ask me if my opinion has changed (which would be really weird) I would probably lie and offer something less embarrassing, perhaps which didn’t involve ten year olds in a Frank Capra movie, because I wouldn’t want this mysterious person to laugh at me. However, this is the Internet, where there is always someone weirder, so I’ll be honest and admit that, no, it really hasn’t. I get goosebumps.
Partially I think it’s because we know that boy grows up to be Jimmy Stewart, and I, for one, am actually going to love Jimmy Stewart til the day I die.

:)
